In one lineA next-generation backend, shipped without downtime

THEchallenge

Sunday makes smart lighting that emulates natural sunlight, a premium product that has been featured in the Financial Times, Dezeen, and Wired. Their next-generation product needed infrastructure the first generation was never designed for.

The hard constraint: the existing system had to keep serving customers the whole time. There was no pause button on the product while its foundations were replaced.

THEsolution

We rebuilt the backend from the ground up (new databases, new APIs, and observability designed in rather than bolted on) and migrated the product across without interrupting it.

Alongside the backend, we shipped the companion mobile app in Flutter and continue to own the Python services behind the product. It’s a partnership rather than a project: the roadmap is shared, and the person who designed the infrastructure is the one extending it.

Working with Neelesh is like working with a whole team of developers. He can project manage, design, debug and execute across the full development stack. He's an absolute pleasure to work with.
